~ The Staff ~
The staff at Meyer Family Cellars is small and close-knit. Due to the limited production of Meyer Family wines, the daily responsibilities around the winery are carried out by five employees - winemakers Matt and Karen Meyer, Molly Sutherland (Project Coordinator), Jay Newcomer (Facility Coordinator) and Jo Ann Aronson, whose smile warms the tasting room.
Tony Poer, Sales Manager
Sales Manager Tony Poer got his start in the wine business after college when he spent a year as garçon at Willi's Wine Bar in Pars, France. In 1992 he moved to San Francisco to pursue a retail and restaurant wine career. He spent 2000 to 2003 as the wine buyer for Hayes & Vine, a popular Civic Center wine bar.
Today, Tony, his wife, Rachael, and their daughter, Lucie, live in Napa Valley. He enjoys visiting accounts all over California for Meyer Family Cellars. He particularly likes the 326 Bar at the L.A. Farmers Market and Moya's burrito truck in Boonville.
Jo Ann Aronson, Tasting Room Host
Jo Ann Aronson, a familiar face to Yorkville residents (she's the retired Yorkville US Post Master), warmly welcomes guests to the tasting room. She is often heard swapping stories with guests about far-away travels, fine food and local flavors.
Jay Newcomer, Property Manager
Jay joined the Meyer Family Cellars team in December of 2004 to help Matt with the ever expanding landscaping and gardening projects around the winery. Jay is an accomplished landscape designer, who has had a marked influence on the property in a short space of time.
Jay, his wife Shelly and their two children live on a nearby ranch where they practice a close to self-sufficient lifestyle. Their organic garden is truly impressive in size, quality and variety, providing Jay with superb ingredients for his substantial culinary skills.
Molly Sutherland, Project Coordinator
Molly came to us with extensive experience in hospitality management. Originally from New England, she managed restaurants and coordinated weddings and corporate events. She welcomed the warmth of wine country over the blustery winters of New England and moved to California with her husband, Alex in 2005 to pursue their joint dream of developing careers in the wine business. Molly enthusiastically made the transition from the hectic nightlife of restaurants to the quieter pace of the Yorkville Highlands wine country. When she’s not at the winery, Molly, Alex, and their daughter, Elliot spend their time at home, making wine, cheeses and other culinary experiments.
